Update from PlasticList:

Boba Guys identified the sources of BPA contamination and replaced them with BPA-free alternatives. PlasticList and Boba Guys partnered to test all source ingredients that went into their black tea and pearls, and we found BPA in receipt paper and brown sugar. Boba Guys has since fully transitioned to BPA-free receipt paper, which PlasticList confirmed to be BPA-free through independent lab testing. They have also switched to brown sugar in BPA-free packaging. We have been impressed with their commitment to get to the bottom of the issue and move fast to remove BPA from their supply chain.

About this test

This PlasticList-derived record contains 3 samples of Boba Guys Fruity Flavored Tea screened for 18 phthalates plus BPA, BPS, and BPF. PlasticList reports that these samples were collected in the second half of 2024. The imported data available here does not identify the testing laboratory, analytical method, or exact test date. DEHP was the highest measurement at 12–17 ng/g in 2 of 3 samples, followed by DEHT at 12 ng/g and BPA at 2–5.6 ng/g. BBP, BPF, BPS, DBP, DEHA, DIDA, and 3 others were below the limit of quantitation.

Measurements are reported by sample in ng/g, including non-detect and quantitation-limit status where available.

This record is derived from PlasticList data and retains its source-specific collection information. Results describe the tested samples and lots at a point in time; they do not establish that every unit of a product is universally safe or contaminated.
